Coffee in Colombia

Colombia is the world's largest producer of washed arabica and its coffee is grown almost entirely on smallholder farms scattered across the Andes. The country's two mountain ranges, near-equatorial latitude and staggered rainfall give it harvests in most months of the year, so fresh Colombian coffee is available almost continuously. Expect clean, balanced cups: bright but rounded acidity, caramel and red-fruit sweetness, and body that ranges from silky in the south to fuller in the north. Castillo and Caturra dominate the fields, with Pink Bourbon and Geisha appearing in the specialty tier.
